Summer Safety Update

While we are fortunate that the city of University Heights is
an extremely safe city that does not mean that we do not see
crimes of opportunity that occur.  The Sun Press Police Blotter
has noted a number of vacant homes that have been broken
into for copper and other items that can be sold. The Police
Department cannot be in every area of the city, at all times.
Help them out. Pay attention to vacant homes in your area. If it
is an emergency call 911. If you are unsure about what is hap-
pening but think something might be amiss, do not hesitate to
call the non-emergency number for Police if you see something
out of the ordinary. They are happy to send a patrol car to check
it out! Community safety starts with us – the community!
The non-emergency  number is 216 932 1800.

Many of us walk for health or walk our dogs throughout the day.
Please consider paying attention to your surroundings. If you see
something out of the ordinary, let the police department know.

With summer here, many of us leave our windows open throughout
the day.  Consider closing your first floor windows at night. Close
your garage door when you are not home and be sure to lock your
door after you when you leave. A step of prevention will help to keep
your valuables safe.

When you shop, be sure to keep your purse and wallet with you.
Leaving them in a cart while you look for something can result in
them being missing when you return.

Be safe with your health as well. Use sun screen when working in
the yard or out for a day outdoors.

Have a safe summer. Do not hesitate to email safety tips etc to
us for posting on the website. Our email address:

We are happy to update the safety page with information for the
